How easy to refute thy love
So rapidly I reach my arms out and—– Shove.
Anything in this moment is possible,
Anything dangerous to pull me away from grace.
Yet, I am safely reunited with your white washed face.
Autumn, a dying comfort.
Summer sun stains your trees. Streets surrounded by a canopy of yellow warmth.
He falls all over me.
Sunbeams quivering in the gutters. Smashed under wet tires. Stained by dirty paws. Blowing onto the neighbor’s lawn. She has no tolerance. Paper sunlight stashed away within the midnight rubbish bag.
When she’s not looking, I peek into the darkness to find my sun.
